June is National Safety Month. Throughout the month, the National Safety Council provides weekly resources highlighting leading causes of preventable injury and death. Their goal is to stress the importance of staying proactive and alert when it comes to workplace safety.
In light of National Safety Month, we want to share our company’s commitment to safety and why the work we do here is so important.
Our mission statement clearly defines who we are and fuels the work that we do every day:
“Promoting safer communities by reducing risk through data insights.”
The wellbeing of our communities has always been a top priority at SambaSafety – we leave no stone unturned when it comes to discovering new ways to reduce driver risk. And as the roads become more dangerous year after year, the role we play is more important now than ever before.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reported that 31,720 people died in motor vehicle crashes throughout the first nine months of 2021. This is a 12% increase from 2020 and the highest number of fatalities reported of any year since 2006. With this in mind, we believe that it’s crucial for each stakeholder in our industry to help make our transportation system a safer place.
At SambaSafety, we work to help companies ensure that only their safest drivers are out on the road. It’s much more than just encouraging better driving habits – many car crashes and fatalities can be avoided by utilizing one crucial component: data. We’ve developed solutions that help companies simplify the complex and overwhelming amount of data surrounding driver behavior. From simplifying MVRs to helping companies analyze their risk at a high level, we help make data more digestible and actionable.
More than 90% of crashes involve human error. This means that a great majority of future vehicle-related incidents can be avoided with the right safety strategy. With MVR monitoring, employers are continuously alerted of violations, empowering them to immediately take action before their drivers put lives in danger – by disqualifying the driver, enrolling them in necessary training or moving low-performing employees into a non-driving role.
The shortest distance between knowing about driver risk and fixing it is by assigning targeted, remedial training. With our solutions, companies can establish a targeted intervention strategy that allows them to enroll drivers in relevant training courses and get them safely back on the road.
We also promote frequent, ongoing driver training – a proven method to reduce violations and promote safety across a company’s fleet. It’s been found that those who incorporate frequent training and assign courses monthly have far fewer violations – 25% less than the industry average and 50% less than fleets who train twice a year.

As we expand our product offerings, we aim to help more industries reduce their overall risk, not just those out on the roads. Our solutions can help insurance carriers proactively partner with their customers to enforce each company’s safety strategy – reducing violations, crashes and claims. We also help carriers and brokers better assess and price risk.
In addition, we offer various OSHA, food safety and hazard training videos to help reduce overall workplace risk as well.
We’re not just here to help companies save money or protect reputations – we’re in the business to promote safety and save lives. Each new and existing product that we offer is intentionally engineered and implemented with the safety of others at top-of-mind. We’re here to make a measurable impact, reduce the number of vehicle fatalities and ensure roadways and workplaces are a safer place to be.
