The cost of risk is rising for companies with drivers out on the road.

  • The number of road-related fatalities was way up this past year – higher than they’ve been since 2002.
  • We’re seeing an increase in both vehicle repair costs and litigation financing.
  • The cost of insurance premiums is climbing at record rates.

As the roads become more dangerous, all stakeholders – drivers, companies, government departments, insurance carriers and brokers – need to do their part in helping make our country’s transportation system a safer place. This is where pulling, analyzing and acting on MVR data plays a crucial role.

What is an MVR?

An MVR, or Motor Vehicle Record, is an individual’s state driving record. It includes the driver’s history including suspensions, revocations, citations and violations. Using MVR data is the gold standard for understanding driver risk. It’s the best way to predict future crashes – saving companies time, money and most importantly, lives.

What makes MVRs complicated is that they are different in every state. This poses multiple challenges for companies when it comes to standardizing how they identify and assess driver risk from state to state.

In our latest webinar, “Back to Basics – MVRs and Driver Monitoring,” our team of experts and special guest Steve Ralston, director of transportation safety and compliance of Ashley Global Retail, highlight the key components and challenges of MVRs. We also discuss best practices when it comes to monitoring drivers, and how the process doesn’t have to be time-consuming, confusing or costly if you have the right tools in your belt.

We tackle real-world questions that affect companies and their drivers:

  • How does your team use MVRs and monitoring?
  • What happens after a driver gets a violation at your company?
  • Why should your company care about violations that happen outside of a company vehicle?
  • Why is license status so critical to monitor?
  • How has your driver monitoring program helped with your insurance renewals and premiums?
  • What is the “hierarchy of needs” for a safety program at a fleet?
  • What are the top four metrics that good safety executives watch out for?
