If you’re a frequent visitor of our blog, you know by now how crucial continuous driver monitoring is when it comes to helping companies identify high-risk drivers. But while continuous driver monitoring alone is informative, simply knowing about a violation isn’t fixing it. Upon discovering a violation, you need a fast, simple and effective strategy in place that’s aimed at improving driver behavior.

The shortest distance between knowing and fixing is assigning relevant driver safety training. When utilizing our comprehensive platform, Qorta, you can establish a customized safety and driver training program that fits your company’s needs.

At SambaSafety, we are constantly adding and improving our training courses to keep our communities safe. We work around the clock to ensure that drivers are up to speed as new industry standards and regulations are implemented. So far this year we’ve already added and updated over 15 courses!

The new and updated courses below can be utilized during hiring and onboarding, refresher periods or remediation efforts.

New Sedan and Light Duty Driver Courses

Pre-Trip Checklist (Sedan & Light Duty)

Drivers are required to ensure they are well-prepared, and that their vehicles are safe to operate before heading out on any journey. This lesson teaches drivers how to inspect and prepare their vehicles before heading out on the road, including checking vital vehicle components and ensuring all required documentation is on hand.

Accident Procedures (Sedan, Light Duty & Medium Duty)

This lesson covers the steps drivers should follow if they are involved in a crash, including reporting the crash, contacting emergency services and documenting the crash with photographs and information regarding all parties involved.

Driver Distractions (Sedan, Light Duty, & Medium Duty)

This lesson identifies the most common distractions, so drivers will be better equipped to recognize and therefore prevent them from causing unsafe driving behavior. While we may not be able to eliminate all distractions, controlling our response to them can shorten the time of the distraction as well as its impact on our safety and the safety of others.

Lane Changes and Mergers (Sedan)

We’ve updated this existing lesson to include additional topics related to pavement markings and passing. The inclusion of these additional training points makes this lesson applicable to more recommended training instances for monitored violations.

Urban Driving (Light Duty)

City driving provides many unique challenges for drivers, and they must learn how to properly handle them. These challenges include pedestrians, cyclists and other vehicles sharing the busy streets and intersections of cities.

New Medium Duty and Heavy Duty Driver Courses

Accident Procedures (Sedan, Light Duty & Medium Duty)

Full Circle Safety (Medium Duty & Heavy Duty)

Managing the space around the vehicle is the best way to avoid collisions with other vehicles and fixed objects. This lesson covers the “Full Circle Safety” concept of space management and how drivers can effectively manage the space around their vehicles to prevent crashes in every situation.

Driver Distractions (Medium Duty)

See description above. We’ve made visual and consistency updates to the existing course for Medium Duty drivers.

Personal Conveyance Guidelines (Heavy Duty)

Personal Conveyance is the personal use of a CMV while a driver is off duty and not benefitting the company financially. This lesson covers the use of the personal conveyance exception to the Hours-of-Service rules, ensuring that drivers stay compliant and avoid violations.
